A Week of Architecture, Education and Sustainability in Tenerife: Welcoming a Hungarian Staff Mobility Group

From 18 to 22 May 2026, Tenerife Job Training welcomed 12 teachers and education professionals from Hungary (Békéscsabai Szakképzési Centrum) for a tailor-made educational mobility programme combining architecture, education, sustainability and local heritage.

During their five days in Tenerife, the group discovered the island through a professional lens, visiting a selection of inspiring places and institutions:

• Contemporary architecture – Magma Arte & Congresos, Plaza de Adeje and the Iglesia Santísimo Redentor, exploring the work of architect Fernando Menis.
• Education & architecture – IES Rafael Arozarena, where participants explored how architectural design can influence learning, creativity and well-being.
• Heritage & culture – A guided visit to La Orotava and its remarkable traditional Canarian architecture.ç
• Sustainability & innovation – A visit to a desalination plant and the WAVE project, discovering innovative approaches to water management.
• Local agriculture & territory – A visit to Finca Las Margaritas, exploring sustainable farming and the relationship between agriculture and the island's landscape.

For the participants, this meant discovering Tenerife through different professional perspectives while exchanging ideas and experiences with local organisations and professionals.
