Back to Nature course – Discover Tenerife’s Hidden Worlds
07 de noviembre del 2025 Tenerife: experience the island
Tenerife is famous for its astonishing variety of microclimates, creating a mosaic of distinct ecosystems and landscapes unlike anywhere else in the world.
In the Back to Nature Erasmus staff week course, you will explore some of the island’s most breathtaking natural wonders under expert guidance.
You’ll hike through the lush Barranco del Infierno gorge, walk across the Chinyero volcanic fields where the lava rivers of the last eruption are still visible, marvel at the surreal rock formations in the Teide National Park, and wander through a dreamlike laurel forest that feels straight out of a fairytale.
But this course is not only about admiring nature – it’s about understanding it. Along the way, your guide will reveal fascinating insights into Tenerife’s unique wildlife and volcanic landscapes such as:
- how plants in Teide National Park regulate their own temperature
- how Tenerife’s pine trees collect water from the mist
- how to distinguish different types of lava
- how the island’s striking rock formations and colorful lava layers came to be
All excursions take place deep in nature, far away from social media and constant availability. With no internet or email access, you’ll have the rare opportunity to disconnect from the digital world and fully reconnect with yourself, the landscape, and your fellow participants.
Whether you choose to enjoy the peaceful silence or share stories and cultural insights with others, the Back to Nature experience offers a refreshing and meaningful escape from everyday life – and a deeper appreciation of the natural world.
