ERASMUS TENERIFE CARNIVAL 2026 

Last month we welcomed over 40 students from different VET centers to our beautiful island as a part of an Erasmus internship mobility. Back home they study fashion, interior design, art and makeup, here they were partnered with local designers and carnival groups (Carroza Carnavalera, Team Santana, Juan Carlos Armas, David Hernandez Paes, Isidro Castellano and Santi Castro) and dancing groups (Comparsas Los Valleiros y Tropicana Infantil) participating in the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The students helped their team in creating beautiful, gigantic constructions and costumes for example for the carnival queen election, the parade and dancing contests.

The project seeks to support local artists and carnival designers that exist outside the framework of professional industry or commercial enterprises. Through practical and collaborative artistic work, it promotes intercultural dialogue and strengthens a sense of European solidarity. It also provides young people with meaningful, real-world creative experience by enabling them to engage with the crafts alongside community-based artists and artisans. Overall, project highlights the important role that both traditional and contemporary art can play in culture, fostering civic values and encouraging active community engagement.

The highlights of the mobility were the Tenerife Carnival Gala Queen Election, where all the designers where the students learned with were showing on stage the final amazing craft work. The street parade where the team of other students won the first price in the contest of decorated floats and the invitation and welcome by the mayor in the town hall.

Thanks to the students for giving their all in helping their teams, thanks to the designers and creatives for welcoming the participants with open arms and letting them be a part of the celebrations and thanks to the mayor for welcoming us! It was an amazing experience, and we hope it was as inspiring to you as it was to us, we will never forget this carnival thanks to all of you!!
