My internship with Tenerife Job Training

I can’t believe it is already time to look back on my internship with Tenerife Job Training, it feels like I just arrived and it seems unbelievable that I already worked almost five months with the team. But, measuring by all the memories I made, it might as well have been even longer. 

I am so grateful for the times I was able to go out with the Erasmus staff courses and get to know the island with them. Meeting people from all over Europe and learning about their school systems, universities and perspectives was so inspiring and it is truly incredible how friendly all of them were. I studied to become a teacher and during my time at the university we almost exclusively learned about ways to teach inside a classroom. The courses here showed me how interesting, enriching and different learning out and about can be and I cannot wait to integrate that experience into my way of teaching and organize international experiences in my future school as well.

One of my favourite parts about this experience was the opportunity to get to know the behind the scenes of the carnival in Tenerife. To get a peek into the work that goes into the events and meet the people who are responsible for making the costumes of the carnival queens, which can only be described as stunning pieces of art. I am incredible grateful to the designers for the warmth and openness they shared with me and for welcoming me into their workspace.

I am going to miss the casual lessons on spanish sayings in the office, the lunches in the sun, the office dog Risco and of course all of my colleagues. I can’t express how thankful I am to you Mariví, Paula and Adrián, for your kindness, your laughter and your patience.
